Aloha!  Thank you for considering Outrageous Gourmet’s Private Chef, Event Planning and Catering Services.  Fresh and innovative local island flavors are the cornerstone to Chef/Owner Katherine Louie’s culinary style.  Founded in 2000, Outrageous Gourmet features visually artistic presentations, unique mouthwatering flavors and impeccable service to please the utmost discriminating palates.

Katherine’s food adventure started from the heart of her hometown, San Francisco, where the freshest ingredients were the “only” choice on the dinner menu.  Born in Hong Kong, the birthplace of “Dim Sum (to touch the heart)”, by the age of 12, Katherine helped host and cook her Mother’s Saturday night “Mah Jong” dinner parties.  Over the years, Katherine created cutting edge dishes and the common response repeatedly heard was “That’s Outrageous,” thus the name for “Outrageous Gourmet” was born.

in 2000, Outrageous Gourmet features visually artistic presentations,
unique mouthwatering flavors and impeccable service to please the utmost
discriminating palates from all over the world!  

After receiving a Bachelors degree in Business & Finance, Katherine traveled
throughout the country as National Training Manager for several Fortune
500 company and dined out frequently, absorbing the diverse flavors
spanning our culturally rich nation. As Vice President of Sales for a
medical equipment company that she co-founded, she lived in New England
where she had her first unofficial taste for catering hosting a large
political fundraiser. To escape the sub-zero winters of New England,
Katherine vacationed in Hawaii every winter, not only to absorb the
sunshine in paradise, but also the exotic and rich flavors of the
Pacific Rim Cuisine. Longing for Hawaii's sunny blue skies and warm
weather, Katherine ventured to the Big Island in 1999 and made
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii her home.

After arriving in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, her passion for food beckoned her to pursue her first love, food! While fine tuning her skills, she mentored with various celebrity chefs including David Paul of David Paul's Lahaina Grill, receiving the Hale Aina award for Best Maui Restaurant for 15 consecutive years  and Kuki'o Beach Club, Richard Allen, Chef /Owner of Willowside Cafe (Voted Top 100 Best Bay Area Restaurants) of Santa Rosa as well as former catering partner, Bill Moore of First Class Catering, Executive Chef of Parker Ranch Grill in Waimea and Palm Cafe in Kona.

Katherine's unique culinary creations have delighted many homeowners from the Kohala Coast in Kukio, Hualalai, Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea as well as guests visiting from around the world and throughout the community of Kailua-Kona.  Chef Katherine has captured distinct awards such as "People's Choice for Best Savory Dish" at the Hilton Waikoloa Sunset Tea. Chef Katherine's creation was also featured on the Food Network on "BBQ with Bobby Flay." Her recipes had received Five Star Reviews by Food Network Reviewers.
